• happy for the River Devil to eat the world so it could be made new again; does not like change
• unhappy with pollution; roads and railways; anything that destroys hunting grounds and leaves only a tiny fraction of the forests free
• agrees with Wolf who believes Mother Earth cannot move underneath the cement and steel
• joined forces to help Mercy defeat the River Devil; when they were all alive, they'd been able to harry her, to play off one another's strengths; but as they died, they lost the ability to distract her

• Beaver was the last to leave; barely escaped out the beast's sphincter—and that's why the beaver's tail is flat and has no hair
