John Lauren society
« on: January 29, 2008, 09:16:16 pm »
Is there some significance to the John Lauren in the John Lauren Society?  I know that's kind of random, but having a personal name seemed fairly specific.  I was just wondering if it came from somewhere, or if we would see more about this group later on, or if it was completely random?

Is it a take off on the John Birch Society?
We've had our toad for the 2020s, it's got to get better from here!
But do beware the toad burps.

Patti L has it.  I wanted it to be a society that began with a charismatic leader.   When we lived in Eugene there was a Pied Piper sort of man (I've forgotten his name) who lead the Anarchist group -- think about that for a minute.  He had a lot of avid followers and they used to head up to Portland once in a while to cause trouble.  The groups haven't a lot in common (John Lauren's followers tend to be $ people) and the anarchists were generally under 25, but still . . .
