O_o... do you suppose Anna will get to see Mercy's old college classmate?

I feel that's unlikely, but I am curious about what would bring Charles and Anna to Arizona. I was thinking Area 51! But no... right region, wrong state.

The four corners area, lots of reservations, pinion forests and copper mining are the things that stick out from the wiki article.

My old stomping grounds! I know this place like the back of my hand and am curious to see how much of it I recognize from the story. Is it 2015 yet?

I read an interview from Patty recently that mentioned Scottsdale? If that's where this is taking place then they will be far from the four corners area. There's a LOT of wilderness area in arizona, as well as thriving cities. Pick any city, drive a half hour and you're nice and isolated. There's so much a writer can do with that state. *homesick*

Did I mention I'm excited?  bOuNcY
This is a signature. It doesn't look like much, but it has magical properties which can turn dirtbags into toads. May cause light-headedness, dizziness, rosacea, frequent urination, heart palpitations, unnatural urge for grilled cheese, and in most cases works as an aphrodisiac.

Maybe a run-in with a certain Druid from Hearne's books. That would go...interestingly....

Okay...some serious speculation....could it have something to do with this idea of a high-security complex via Cantrip holding the super-naturals that was hinted at? Perhaps Bran's reaction?

Or some supernatural being associated with desert windstorms.

This being Patty, & Charles being Bran's second, some of each seems more likely.

Interesting idea.

Dead heat is also a race term. Which for some odd reason brought to mind those long haul desert races. (Which I first learned about in a Disney movie about a beetle named Herbie.) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064603/

Back to topic. A skin walker would be native to the SW (as a general rule) so heat would be natural. And the Skinwalker's natural nature is death so that might very well fit.

Could have to do with zombies... probably not Thomas Hao, our day walking vampire.

Also, I believe Gordon Seeker called skin walkers abominations which implies they do exist in the Mercyverse.
