I'm starting with my preferred authors and then I'll branch out to the other stories. The trick will be getting it read before I have to return it to the library. It's a new arrival so can't be renewed.

I downloaded it. Which made me realize I prefer anthologies in book form. LOL

So do I! Anthologies just don't work well in digital.

Opened a new 'cozy' paperback, so far, not too thrilled.
We've had our toad for the 2020s, it's got to get better from here!
But do beware the toad burps.

Have finished the latest Penric short from Lois McMaster Bujold, Earthrise, Rose Point, and A Rose Point Holiday by M.C.A.Hogarth.
I've been sitting on "Earthrise" for about a year, I think, finally bulled my way through it.  There's another book between RP & ARPH, which I need to buy & read to understand everything that's happening in ARPH.

"Something wicked this way comes" as a Re-Read (I know, it's a month too late in the year)
and
"Winter Tide" by Ruthanna Emrys, a Tor freebie. So far in a nice twist on the Lovecraftian mythology.

Me too!  I got it as an audiobook, and I've been fine with anthologies in audiobook before -- but I realized the ones I've enjoyed in that form have contained all or mostly all stories from authors I know and love (Shifting Shadows is great in audio!).

This one had numerous authors I wasn't familiar with, writing stories situated in the midst of series I wasn't familiar with, and focused  on villains, so not the most endearing characters to introduce a series.  And in that format, it isn't easy to just sample a story and decide to flip on through to one by a different author (especially since I tend to listen on my commute, when I can't fiddle with it while I drive -- I felt trapped in unfamiliar worlds several times that week!)

On a reread of the Kate Daniels series. Just finished the second. I finally finished Walter Mosley's Charcoal Joe, which I was reading in intervals in the car and eventually brought indoors to finish because I needed to know what happened. It's a really good entry in the series. I also picked up a Michael Connelly TBR at the supermarket, The Wrong Side of Goodbye, but not in the mood for Harry Bosch at the moment.

I've been reading Lyastheria ( I may have that wrong) the 3rd of 4 books in "Her Instruments" by M.C.A.Hogarth, and "Silver Scales" by L. Rowan.
Both are currently paused because of the signals that one or more main character is about to Do Something Stupid that will make matters worse. In each case, the author has signaled that the person they're coming up against is a Bad Guy.  One quite obviously, since he's been one of the villains, the other from the POV character having mentioned that he looks like a predator.  She's 17 years old, and the obvious impression is that he wants to sexually molest her, possibly with sadism.

The Chess Queen Enigma: A Stoker & Holmes Novel by Colleen Gleason. This is the second of this series I read. It is the third in the series as a whole.

That series is a good one, I agree.

I just finished Killman Creek by Rachel Caine and while not quite as good as its predecessor, Stillhouse Lake, it was very good.
