Character Karaoke
« on: June 22, 2009, 05:13:03 pm »
*slightly sweaty and out of breath (and with more than a few cuts and bruises), steps onto brightly lit stage before a closed red curtain*
Okay, gang!  Welcome to our newest form of entertainment here at Hurog.  One of my favorites scenes in all the Mercy books is when she is forced to sing......so I thought a repeat performance is in order!  Then the thought occurred to me that Mercy should not be the only one who has to sing, so.....*pulls open the curtain to reveal Mercy and all the characters of her books....tied up restrained to the stage*......I wrangled up our heroine and all our favorite characters and brought them to this stage to perform for our pleasure......>:D

The rules:

1) You pick the song!  The character or characters of your choosing MUST sing whatever you want them to.....not even the Marok can resist.

2) The song can be what you consider a serious peek into the character(s) soul or just something we'd all laugh our heads off to hear the character(s) sing.  An explanation for your choice is always welcome, however this is for fun so explanation is not required.

3)Please keep it clean folks!  There are youngins on this board.

4)NO HECKLING OR JEERING OR MAKING FUN OF PEOPLE'S CHOICES!!!!  Violators and mean people WILL be MAULED to within an inch of their life!

5) HAVE FUN!!!!!

First up:  Ben gets to sing Billy Idol's - Rebel Yell

-just cause I was listening to this song and thought it was definitely a "Ben" song.....

Some more thoughts.

Leah; "Material Girl", segue into "You're So Vain/I Bet You Think This Song Is About You." (Sung to Bran)

Stephan to Mercy, "I'll Be True To You" from the Oakridge Boys.
Adam to Mercy "I'm The Official Historian Of Shirley Jean Burrell(the only thing that I don't know is where she is right now)" also by the Oakridge Boys.

Kyle, to Warren "I'm too sexy for my shirt".

(Its actually one of my favorite songs)
"Curiosity is insubordination in its purest form" - Alexander Skarsgard

"Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"There are nights when the wolves are silent and only the moon howls" - George Carlin

For my first real post, I'm going to be totally predictable and say

"Hungry like a Wolf," (Duran Duran), sung today by - Bran the Beserker and his Mommy, Tom Franklin (at the end of "Seeing Eye,"), and just about every other dominant wolf who gets angry/hungry enough to eat someone.

And then my Samuel's up with, "How to Save a Life," by The Fray. *sighs*  Poor Sam.  :(  I'm a sucker for tortured souls...

Oh, and one of Adam and Mercy's wedding songs shoud be "Falling for You,' by Jem, I think.

Charles is up - (clears throat . . looks at Anna) . . . .

Sings Hanging By A Moment - Lifehouse

“Read, read, read. Read everything -- trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You'll absorb it.
Then write. If it's good, you'll find out. If it's not, throw it out of the window.” - William Faulkner

 :-'

We have no YouTube. My brother used it so much that it ate all our downloads, so my stepdad blocked it. Oh, well, I'll find somewhere else to listen to some of the songs.

I like your choice for Charles, wiccanmoonchild. If anyone could force Charles to karaoke (I think he'd only do it for Anna) that would be a good song for them.

Gerry Wallace has been resurrected for a few minutes to sing..."I don't like the drugs," by Marilyn Manson.

Hello, this is Addicted Gamer with her first post.

I used to watch Buffy (well who of my generation didn't) and
then I scrounged up season one's soundtrack.
The few songs I liked from the soundtrack:

1) Garbage "Temptation Waits" ----- Sam, looking around sneakily grinning "I am a wolf but, I like to wear sheep's clothing"
2) Velvet Chain "Strong" ---- Mercy to Adam
You would fight for me
You would starve for me
You would, suffer, suffer for me
You would die for me
Well I feel the same way too
You know I feel that way about you

And now up to the 50's generation:
Let's hear it for Adam Hauptman & David Christiansen, with their own rendition of "American Pie" LOL :-whistle LOL 8)

Ahaha, this! I loved this song when I was younger.

Thanks to this thread when I walk around campus tomorrow I'm going to be analyzing every song from my iPod to see which ones match which character.  :D

Mercy... or possibly about Mercy: How Much is That Doggy in the Window
Adam, or maybe Bran... or else all the wolves together: Who Let the Dogs Out?
I like Loreena McKennitt's Samhain Night for Samuel, but I think it works best as 16-year old Mercy to Sam, or perhaps even when she sees him again when she takes Adam to Montana.
And for Bran regarding Charles's mom, Moon Cradle (also Loreena McKennitt)
