Speculation about Sam's mother.

Quote from: Shiri
Hi Patty!

I loved Cry Wolf and all of the extra info about Bran and Sam's past made me wonder about Bran's first wife, Sam's mother.  Despite the discussions of Bran's sadistic mother, no one has mentioned Samuel's mom, who Bran said had Samuel when they were all still human.  I was wondering if you could share more details about her or if it would come up later in the series.

Thanks!

I was wondering about Sam's mom too. I'd love to know more about her.

Did she die before Bran and Samuel were changed?

Was there something more to her? Like was she a witch of some sort and that's why there's no connections, really to her?  Perhaps Sam doesn't know everything...just a thought

Consitering the time frame, there's a decent chance she died giving birth to Sam or any siblings he might have had.

that'd be cool if he had a hidden family and they showed in the books

I suspect that it would be hard to prove.

Well as long as it was a direct female line or a direct male line, not actually that hard.

True. I don't think Patty will use this particular idea. After all, how would these families know they're related to Bran?

paternity testing!!!!!
I jest.
It would be really hard to work into a believable plot like Patty's. there are some authors that take the 'it could happen' coincidence approach, but not our hostess.

She probably just died of old age. I can't imagine that she'd be magical, because that would mean Samuel would have a higher chance of being magical to. If both parents are witches what's the chance of their child of not being a witch?

Excellent; many talents skip generations or don't transmit to the next generation & succeeding ones worth a darn.  How many second generation, or third, or fourth... artists, musicians, mathematicians do you know of?
I think she probably did either die of old age, or one of the many "minor" ills that weren't treatable a thousand years ago, maybe even before Bran & Samuel were changed.
