Updating Books page?
« on: January 05, 2012, 07:37:30 pm »
Hi there,  This is actually a question for Mike as the keeper of the site, so to speak.  Will you be putting the teaser from Fair Game up on the Books page?  Or, maybe you're waiting to put up another, longer excerpt?  (Oh, pretty please, one can only hope!) :-whistle

Sorry, I saw your question a couple of days ago, but didn't answer because I wanted to have good news when I did.  So today I updated several of the book pages on the site.  I also posted the Author's notes, and a sample chapter for Fair Game.  So, sorry for the late reply, but your request is finally granted!

Just read the updated sample chapter ... fantastic! It's so wonderful to hear more of the voices of Bran and Asil and really sets up other dimensions of the story that's left to unfold. Kudos to Patty who, as usual, keeps us all begging for more More MORE!

I'm counting the days 'til the release of this one ...  :-\

Oh gosh!  Now I'm really worried about Charles.  No music???  He is in serious trouble, for sure.  Can't wait to find out what happens.  March is just too far away!

Hey Mike and Patty,

I just re-read the sample chapter and this line stood out:

Over the past few years,Anna had learned when and how to best use her ability.

Wondering about the time-line. How long has it been between Hunting Ground and Fair Game? Has it been, literally, 3 years (the definition I learned for "few")? Not quite?

Just trying to put it in perspective with the happenings of the other Mercyverse tomes.

Thanks!

"Alpha & Omega", "Cry Wolf" and "Hunting Ground" happened roughly over the end of "Moon Called" and "Blood Bound", which was roughly 3 years ago, and Anna was mentioned as being 23 years old.  "Fair Game" opens just after the end of "River Marked" and Anna should be 26.

This catching up has been mentioned before in the speculation threads.

That's a great catch.   :) The answer is . . . is should be changed in the actual book.  The reason for this is timing: I pull the sample chapter text from the last couple of rounds of full-text edits.  However, there is one, sometimes two more rounds of editing that occur piecemeal.  Lists of sentences and corrections, and much of that is actually verbal.

So, Patty says she clearly remembers discussing this issue with her editor, who (bless her heart) also caught it.  They fixed it on the phone, and it should be fixed in publication.  It was not, however, fixed in the electronic version Patty sent me.  >:(

Lol! Thanks. I thought I had lost time--in the scifi sense--and landed in another Mercyverse dimension altogether. Kinda like the reboot of Star Trek. Everything looks familiar, but since when does Spock jones for Uhura?

It's all good ...  ;)
