Probably....Im A Barbie Girl ;)  JJ it'd probably be some kind of music that puts out a little bit of a threat but also lets them know that as long as they dont do anything they will stay alive

Okay, so I was listening to my music the other day and I realised that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJKh1oN2rOs is perfect for Adam at the end of IK. Anyone else have a song they think matches a character?

For some reason, I'm thinking of Johnny Cash's "Long Black Veil" for Mac.

Oh, and for Anna/Charles, as their love theme, maybe "I need a Hero"

Well, it may not fit, but I had the impression that there was some speculation that Mac had killed his girl friend when they were both attacked.  "Long Black Veil" is about a man who is hanged/otherwise executed for a murder he didn't commit.  He looks roughly like the  murderer, but refuses to give an alibi, because he was "in the arms of my best friend's wife."
So, "She walks these hills, in a long black veil; she visits my grave when the night winds wail."  and so on.

Funny topic, never thought about that.

I love this cover version, the original always sounds like a stalker song to me, but this version is actually quite romantic.

Have ya'll heard of the opening song of Battlestar Galactica? it's only music, no words and it sounds soooo eery but in a really neat way.  I would love to hear something like that for these two lovers.  IT varies between the song in different tempos from easy to more aggressive. I'm not tech saavy so I don't know how to attach it here.  I think the composers name is Bear Mccreary though. Very neat stuff if you guys wanna look it up.

I was thinking on it all afternoon...

Bran in Cry wolf, and even in Moon called.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKFEjZ98Q4s&feature=related too much love will kill you by Queen... I can just... feel it's one of the 'right ' songs for the Marrok.... it has the soft and the really 'hard' parts that could echo the Marrok's differences... the Alpha of all Alpha's (with an inner demon) and the 'soft' and welcoming person...

for Justin of Chicago... the Doors, Riders on The Storm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-2TNXqEP-Y and for Isabelle, and the rest of the Chicago Pack... the End by The Doors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MI24HgwK4m0 (I just had this inspiration today....)

still trying to figure Mercy, Sam and Adam out... we'll see... How do you like my ideasds so far? :-\

I guess the Cowboy Junkies' Witches makes a good song for young Mariposa.

There is a newish song out by missy higgins called where I stood.  I dont know if it would fit sam and mercy better or charles and anna or anyone, i just like the song, its very melancholyish the main verses say.....

I dont know who I am without you, all I know is that I should
I dont know if I can bear another hand upon you, all I know is that I should

it gives me the chills, maybe its the singers voice  i dunno...but yall should check it out on amazon.com

I was listening to my music the other day and I'm Yours by Jason Mraz came on. It reminded me of Adam at the end of Iron Kissed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkHTsc9PU2A&feature=related

But I won't hesitate no more,
no more
it cannot wait, I'm Yours

It's a little more chill than I would have pictured for Adam and Mercy but the lyrics really hit it home for me. :)

I like Tin Man by Animal Kingdom for either Samuel or Charles. Leaning more towards Sam though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHqLrOUO71o

This one for Sam and Mercy  :o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykdp2jOTPng Run by Benton Paul

For Mercy :O Bulletproof by La Roux http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOYufRHQSms

This one is good for Asil vs. Mariposa. Exit Calypsan by Falling Up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1aBc_O9y3g
NOT saying they're a couple, listen to the song and you'll understand hopefully.

And OH my...this is so good for Bran. Seriously. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYQ_lse44gQ White blank page by Mumford & Sons

If you listen to none of the others, listen to the one for Bran. Pleeeease. It's worth it. Tell me what you think of my choices :P

I'm actually putting together a playlist to listen to on my headphones while I'm reading the books; I'm willing to post the whole thing later if you're at all interested, but these are my standout character pieces for my favorites among the groups. In alphabetic order, because I'm a geek that way:

Adam

As a father: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF62YUxZgRc The One Who Knows - Dar Williams

When they ask how far love goes, when my job's done you'll be the one who knows.

Bran

Natalie Merchant- Beloved Wife http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqW_xKW030U&feature=related

my love is gone she suffered long
in hours of pain
my love is gone
would it be wrong if I should
just turn my face away from the light
go with her tonight?

Charles, after meeting Anna

Vienna Teng - Stray Italian Greyhound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOXwmbYS6BU

So what do I do with this?

This sudden burst of sunlight, and me with my umbrella
Cross-indexing every weatherman's report
I was ready for the downslide, but not for spring to well up
This feeling calls for everything I can't afford
To know is possible now

Mercy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAdD6DT0_kg - Vienna Teng - The Tower

I need not to need, or else a love with intuition;
Someone who reaches out to my weakness and won't let go

Samuel

Townes Van Zandt - Flyin' Shoes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6lXAGli3JU

Days full of rain, sky's comin' down again
I get so tired of these same old blues
Same old song, but baby, it won't be long
'Til I'll be tyin' on my flyin' shoes

I don't know why but the song "I and Love and You" by the Avett Brothers always made me think of Mercy, or at least the books in general. (In fact several of their songs do that) But some of the lyrics seem to fit.
"One foot in and one foot back.
But it don’t pay to live like that.
So I cut the ties and I jumped the track.
For never to return."

"When at first I learned to speak.
I used all my words to fight.
With him and her and you and me.
Ahh, but it's just a waste of time.
Yeah it’s such a waste of time"

And one particular lyric just seemed so adoring in nature that I could almost imagine Bran or Adam saying it about Mercy
"That woman she’s got eyes that shine.
Like a pair of stolen polished dimes."

plus the whole song has a bit of haunting quality to it that reminds me of the area where the books are set, even if the song repeatedly makes references to Brooklyn  :-whistle

Some of your tips are really great! Especially "Beloved Wife" for Bran or "Come on Higher"  for Adam & Mercy (I even can imagine this one for Anna and Charles....:) )

Now I give you my own tip and I hope you will like it :)

Sunny by Bobby Hebb for Arthur's Sunny ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbUl_E-R91Q ). I just read Hunting Ground when I heard this song on the car radio and ... it just fits for them both (ok, for Arthur before his madness about Anna -_- )

Yesterday I heard "Fireflies" on the radio (I'm listening radio only when I'm driving so I have time for thinking XD ) and first idea was about Anna and Charles but I checked the lyrics and... no. Just the part "You would not believe your eyes, if ten millions fireflies, lit up the world...."  :-whistle

That one was really cool! I'll admit that upon first hearing it I was kinda meh about it.  But the second and third time, it really grows on you!  Neat band, do you know the Avett Brothers at all?
Similar feel, that's why I'm asking :D

In this sometimes inexplicable way we link up songs with certain people or events in our live I keep having this song by Dar Williams in head as theme song for Ben:

I couldn't agree more!  Thanks for the song btw, I think I'm going to plug Dar Williams into Pandora now :)

The song "John Barbury" by Kate Rusby is forever linked to Bran and Samuel in my mind now.  I came across it while reading about Samuel playing at the music festival and it seemed like something he and his Da would sing.  What do you think?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN79dLyyF5E
