Title: Mercy's family
Post by: Patti L. on October 19, 2007, 07:13:46 pm
There's been some speculation about Mercy's family, if they'll show up in the Tri-Cities, how likely they are to wreak more havoc on her life.  So this is the place to speculate about it, rather than in actual questions, okay?

i think her step-family could come in and affect her love life choice in some way, but i dont think patty mentioned anything like that happening soon

I highly doubt Mercy's stepdad would enter the scene any time soon.  She isn't very close to him or even to her mother and has stated that she doesn't feel she belongs in that circle.  Even if he did try to influence her choice (which I can't see him doing, given that he knows nothing about the circumstances) I doubt that Mercy would be swayed by his input.

No, me either.  I think she said something about loving her family, but more at a distance.  But her mom did call & try to guilt her into going to their place for Thanksgiving.

Yeah, but the Thanksgiving thing is probably routine for them by now!  :D  I imagine Mercy gets a call every holiday where her mother hopefully begs her to attend the family gathering, and Mercy's job is to always come up with new and interesting excuses!   ::)

Ah, but if she chooses Adam or Sam, won't her family expect to meet the "new boyfriend"?

yes and i think she could ask for advice from her family, as a third party, and only tell them so much.  i think she might value their advice. nd they would want to meet him but i don't know if she ever would really let them  ;)

I want to know more about the extended family, for some reasons. Grandparents, & the branch that sprouted the werewolf.

It would be kind of funny to have Mercy's family step in now.  But that would be one more thing Mercy would have to worry about.  That brings up the question...how much does Mercy's family know?  This may have been answered earlier and I just missed it, but I'm really curious now.  Mercy's mom knows about walkers and werewolves.  The werewolves are out and public now, but not certain ones.  And probably not the ones Mercy's mom knows about.  Obviously, Mercy's mom (what is her name, anyway?) can't know about the vampires, but just how much does she know??

The idea that Mercy's father is really The Coyote or a Fae is a very AWESOME idea!

But I thought the Fae were European. This would mean that Mercy is the progeny of American ... "demigods" (is that an ok term?), Native American Spirits?

But didn't mercy's father die? Why would an ancient Spirit see the need to fake its death?

Maybe Mercy's father was an American version of the Fae and mercy is kinda like Tad.

According to what Patty has said in various chats, interviews, and here on the "Ask Patty" areas, Mercy's father was not more than a "standard" Walker.  He did die in a car accident while Margi was still carrying Mercy in her womb.

Walkers are not Fae per se, as she said to Zee's lawyer in Iron Kissed.  There isn't any one-on-one correspondence.  The different types of supernaturals co-exist rather than overlapping; so Charles can see an angel, and still have the nature spirits speak to him.
