And what epic revenge could Mercy dream up at this time?

I'm guessing it's Christy, honestly. She doesn't have to be a werewolf to take over the pack in one sense that will make it hard on Mercy. She's already got Auriele and a few others on her side. Politically speaking, that's quite enough to cause a lot of grief.

Patricia Briggs News
@Mercys_Garage
We have a fun belated Christmas present as well as something to welcome the New Year from Smoke Bitten!!! Happy New Year! 1/5

PHONE CONVERSATION BETWEEN MERCY AND BRAN:

I hoped he could hear my eyes rolling.  "That's what you told me when I was fourteen.
I was hoping for something more useful now that I'm an adult and she's trying to take over my pack."

"Don't roll your eyes at me," he snapped.  "And you were fifteen."

I looked at the phone. "You remember how old I was?" I asked incredulously.
"It was the day Charles glitter-bombed my office," Bran said darkly.  "Of course I remember."

"Charles?"  There was no way.  "Charles glitter bombed your office."  Cold, scary, efficient, deadly - those were words that suited Charles.
That the term "glitter bomb" and Charles' name were in the same sentence was dumbfounding except maybe in something like "Charles discovered the glitter-bomber's secret identity and hanged her by her toenails to teach the other people who stole her idea
"never to do that again."

"Why did he glitter-bomb your office?" I asked.

"It was something I said," Bran told me.  "And not your business."

~~Happy New Year!!!

After reading the first chapter, I am thinking the she Mercy is talking about could be Aurielle. It seems like she is trying to make trouble for Mercy and getting Adams approval in doing it.

By the way, do you think that Adam have been bitten by the fea which Underhill let loose? Or Elezavetha did something to Adam then she kissed Adam?

Having read the first chapter, I do have a suspicion that Adam is under the control of the fae.  I'm not completely sold on Aurielle trying to take over the pack.

Pretty sure Darryl thinks something is up, though.  I found that interesting.

Remember what happened to the artist werewolf in "Burn Bright"? That was the Hardesty witches, and I wonder if it might be something like that happening to Adam.

And we know that Darryl is pretty well ready to lead his own pack, so I suppose it would be possible that Aurielle is sort of channeling him, through the mate bond, but I never got the impression that she had any real desire to be Alpha herself.  Like Honey, I think she's fine with taking rank from her mate, without having the hassles herself.

That's my impression of Auriele as well. Now I'm wondering whether it's Underhill that's trying to take over.

Who do do you all think the ghost is? Mys sister is convinced it's Elizaveta. I see the possibility, but I'm not completely sold.

The first chapter was posted on the website. http://www.hurog.com/books/SmokeBittenChapter.shtml
Edit: Also, on a reread, I concede that she isn't described as a ghost. That was just my assumption.

I don't agree with the Elizavetta identification, but could use a reread.

Oh, I'll have to get out my ARC and re-read it... what a burden.

Jealous!

I think it was a ghost. It's described the way Mercy usually describes ghosts. I doubt it's Elizaveta, because the description doesn't fit her, and Mercy has never indicated that ghosts return to an earlier age after death. Plus, if her ghost got younger, why would she have death wounds? I think it's someone Mercy doesn't know. But I have to wait to found out.  :-\

Oh my god. I totally forgot about the rouge werewolf pack.

Could the rouge pack be the Hardesty witches werewolves? They could be a pack of witch born werewolves with or without witch magic. Maybe they are trying to take revenge…

If they are not the Hardesty witches werewolves, maybe Darryl will be their alpha in the end. Not in the beginning but at the end of the book after Mercy kick their a**es.

Now I have a visual of werewolves with makeup compacts and brushes, watching online tutorials.

Rogue werewolves are the bad kind. Rouge werewolves are, presumably, pink. Maybe red, we'll allow, since that's the direct translation from the French.
