Well, of course the SFWA is not a gelatinous cube.
OTOH, I'm shocked to learn that it is not an offspring of the Flying Spaghetti Monster that hovers invisibly over Omaha.

One I'd add to the list is yet another tale of The Great Detective pulled out of retirement, as told by Gahan Wilson in "Everybody's Favorite Duck".
It's a book that's just about as twisted as his cartoons.

Looks like Rothfuss may actually make it to the screen!

The Seth Dickinson book looks really interesting.

Nice homage. I love it that most sf/f writers are collegial rather than competitive.

Not news, but a thought that just occurred to me.
I'd love to see some pair ups of writers who have similar mindsets in some ways, like Ursula Vernon's practical heroines and those of Patricia C. Wrede.

From Locus Magazine:
PKD News
April 20, 2019

A first edition of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick (1968) was pulled from the shelves in a Tennessee Library, to be trashed or sold at the Friends of the Memphis Public Library book shop, when staff member Geoff Hopkins noticed the book and realized its value. The library’s online sales manager Louise Brown listed the book online for $1,250, and sold it within a few weeks, bringing in a record sum for a single book sold by that library. “This thing was going to be thrown away, and I can’t imagine how many programs that it will fund for the library,” Brown told a local newspaper. “It’s what we’re calling the ‘sale of the decade.'”

Oh, good.
I'm thinking of treating myself to the new Neil Gaiman graphic adaptation of ... it's either Snow White or The Snow Queen.

Terrible list; doesn't mention Callahan's, or All Jolson's of Ahnk Morpork. Who else would you add?

The White Hart, a fine place for drink and conversation, from Arthur C. Clarke's "Tales Of The White Hart".

There was another from long, long ago, I think L. Sprague deCamp, where they had tiny flying pink elephants infesting the bar.

Interesting! I knew a scientist who had Addison's. When I saw her after her diagnosis, I didn't recognize her. She had lost 50lb, cut her hair, and her entire manner was different. Not better or worse, at least to my eye; just entirely different.

Didn't President Kennedy have Addison's disease? Something that came out after his death?

I believe so. The thing about endocrine diseases is that they can look within the range of normal function if you didn't know the person before onset. And, particularly for females, it's frequently exhausting to get medical staff who don't know you to take you seriously.

I hear that. It was an excellent doctor, who had only seen me for two yearly physicals, who took a chance remark and diagnosed my autoimmune disease.

I can recommend "How Much For Just The Planet" as slapstick Star Trek humor.
He wrote in the Liavek shared world collections too, I've got his novel/collection from that world.
