This bit, in particular, intrigued me:  If John W. Campbell's Astounding Stories had been published in an LGBT-friendly era, this is the cover-story serial you'd have been waiting anxiously for each month.

https://www.sffchronicles.com/threads/560884/  Compares "Little Fuzzy" (not even written correctly BY the reviewer) against the 're-imagining' of "Fuzzy Nation."

Yes.  It would have more weight with me if the reviewer had a better grasp of the story.  "Ishtar gems"?  Really? And what kind of word is that for the machine?  It's a VERIDICATOR, it verifies truth, not... whatever their mashed up word means.

Loved Little Fuzzy as a teen, and haven't reread it in decades. I still have my old copy. I recently found at a secondhand store a 1968 book, Gordon R. Dickson's Wolfling, which had a similar feel to it. The social assumptions are a little jarring, and the twist at the end makes the moral I thought was coming a lot muddier. But it's not really fair to ask writers ro be ahead of their times. Nice when it happens, of course, but unreasonable to expect it. And Dickson did evolve since then as a writer and a person.

The weird thing is that some of those old sf books feel more dated than a Regency romance written years earlier. I think it's the imposition of midcentury mores on the imagined future. This makes me wonder how current sf will look a couple of generations down the road.

I never realized why Diana Wynne Jones became more readily available. I should email that guy and thank him.

http://kyndrahatch.blogspot.com/2016/08/pets-in-space-coverreveal-scifi-romance.html  First month after release, part of the profits go to an animal charity.

Don't know the authors, but I do like the premise of the anthology. :)
