She's one I have mixed feelings about. Some of her stuff I like a lot, the linked ones like "The Seekers of Shar Nun" and the duology including "Lords of the Triple Moons", but when she followed the Jean Auel road, I didn't come along. I like the small (not lengthy) young readers book "The Absolutely Perfect Horse", unlike a lot of the "expedient special animal comes into the family" books, she lays out the lessons she's teaching fairly explicitly at the end, so you feel as though the sacrifices are worth the cost.
