Interesting. I'm not acquainted with all of the authors, and intend to look into one or two. But their prattle really turned me off.
And the one commenting on Zelazny has forgotten what he read; Benedict of Amber is at least 2,000 years old. A scenario is stuck in my head wherein Corwin is traveling with his (disguised) father, and recounts that Benedict has for more than 2,000 years spent time each day studying warfare, and his theories of battle. Going from one Shadow to another to see the same battle, slightly changed, and how it ends due to the changes.

Not sure I agree they're all worthy of the list (especially after that picking apart of the Pern series) but some fine recommendations here.

I read it long before that, and the other book too - I forget the title. They are wonderful.

I loved Schmitz's original, but never was able to get into the sequel. Maybe it's time I tried again ...
