Honestly never heard of the author. Her works sound delightful.

I lucked into buying Ms. Kagan's work at the time it came out, and loved all three of the books. I've re-read each many times.

They do sound very neat. Thank goodness for used book stores and e-readers!

I love 'em, own all three, and vaguely remember the Nutcracker thing "rattle your quills!" and I think there were a few other short stories on that world.

Recently re-published, by Baen.

Great news; they deserve to be out there for more people to find.
That said, I have to blush and confess that I am still trying to figure out where Ms. Kagan pulled 'Jason' from as a job description/name in 'Mirabile'.
But, I will relate that I consider Mirabile to be wonderful. O)

Me too.  I always associated it with Jason and the Argonauts from Greek mythology, rightly or wrongly, but given that they call the 'tweens "Dragon's Teeth", I think its a decent guess.

That thought completely escaped me; I hadn't considered classical sources since the other job names seemed to be direct. Raiser, Bellmaker, Opener; I forget what the cop was called but it was directly related.
Slayer of Dragon's Teeth sounds quite correct.
