Speculation on Charles' reaction to Ariana
« on: May 23, 2010, 02:46:43 pm »
Although I'm sure Charles the human would like Ariana (and be eternally grateful to her...as I certainly am :) ), do you think his wolf would learn to accept her as part of the family?  In Hunting Ground it's stated that Brother Wolf "was always unhappy around the fae, any fae," and that to him "they weren't pack and never could be" (36).  I'm hoping this won't create a rift between the brothers.  Charles may be able to hide his wolf's disdain for Ariana, but I don't think he could hide it from either Samuel or Bran if that turns out to be the case.  How flexible do you think someone's wolf side could be in this kind of situation?

Good question!
It's going to depend on the individual, of course.  Pretty clearly, Samuel's wolf is happy with her, and I suspect Anna's wolf will be okay, but any other wolf is going to be somewhere further down the scale of trust or acceptance, I'd imagine.

Wow great question!  I was so happy for Sam I didn't think about the reaction of the rest of the Marrok pack or of Bran, Charles and Anna either.

I think that since Ariana has been hiding for so long that all might be OK. The protective instincts of the wolves leads me to believe that regardless of what she is she is Sam's and since his happiness and stability are what Charles and Bran want they will get over the fae part of her.  Not saying there won't be problems along the way what with the Silver Borne having come out to the fore again, but I think they will protect her and it from the Gray Lords.

When I'm good I am real good  >D , When I'm bad I'm even better :-whistle

CK, what you are talking about is really the human reaction, I think.

It will be interesting to see Brother Wolf's struggle to make Family and Fae fit together.
He may never be able to reconcile the two. I don't think it will be a matter of Disdain, but rather of trust.

Will Brother Wolf ever be able to trust Ariana, a fae?

I think Brother Wolf's problem with Fae is that they are different and he doesn't understand them. What he doesn't understand could be a threat and so is a threat.
Threats are not to be trusted.
End of logic train.

If Brother Wolf gets to know Ariana and understands her... I think he will be able to trust her. Especially if she cares about Samuel/Sam.

Mmm... Reminds me of Rabbit trying to explain to Suiden's daughter why Dragons are cool, but not the best rulers...

Good point Avarel!  I suppose Brother Wolf has never had a reason to try to understand the fae beyond gauging their potential threat to the pack.  Just because he's never tried doesn't mean he couldn't overcome his first instincts.  I agree that it would be interesting to see the process.

This is an interesting questions!

I would think that Charles and Brother Wolf are in for an interesting time... they both have some definite attitudes that will require a bit of adjusting... Lol, now I can't wait to see it.

Depending on circumstances, Brother Wolf may not have to worry about it very darned much.  If Charles is based out of Aspen Creek & traveling here & there, while Samuel & Ari are basing in the Tri-Cities, how often will they meet?

They may not stay there.

Ari may be Samuel's 'being to live for' but think of what he really desires. They may go back to Aspen Creek to settle, Sam does have a house there and it wouldn't be such a bad place to raise kiddies

True, I kind of suspect it's not going to happen very soon, though.  Samuel just recently went through Medical School and getting licensed to practice in Washington state, he probably doesn't want to uproot & haul Ari, still panicking over werewolves, to the Center for Psychopathic Werewolves that is Aspen Creek.
