Will we see a pink shotgun wedding sometime in the future with doves and satin?

(I just want to envision Mercy's reaction towards this! ) :

Patricia Briggs:
Has -- can't you just see Mercy's mom holding her gun on Adam? Probably not a shotgun wedding though, Adam is not gunshy (grin).

Do you think we'll ever learn more about the Lord of Night and his werewolf mistress? (I'm guessing she's a submissive.) I'd think that the werewolves going public would have repercussions in Milan.
Wednesday May 12, 2010 8:28 Carradee
8:29
Patricia Briggs:
Carradee -- I know all about the Lord of Night but I'll only pull him out if he becomes useful to the stories. I think the book after River Marked is going to be a Big Vampire book --- unless something else jumps out at me first. There are nasty things going on in the vampire world . . .

I read online that Mercy might make it onto the big screen, is there anything you can tell us about that?
Wednesday May 12, 2010 8:30 rynn
8:31
Patricia Briggs:
Rynn -- All I can tell you is that it took us a year and a half and two lawyers to hammer out a contract -- and they are serious enough that what they paid me for the rights paid off my very expensive (and wonderful) Hollywood contracts lawyer. The production company who has the rights just produced The Prince of Persia -- which I am, for many reasons, very anxious to see.
However, at this point nothing is certain.

I'm curious about where the inspiration for Mercy came from-and why a mechanic? Was it just there when you thought of Mercy?
Wednesday May 12, 2010 8:32 shilohwalker
8:33
Patricia Briggs:
Shiloh, I knew when I was planning the series, that I wanted Mercy to have a job that was very hands on, something that would drag her out of the supernatural and into the real world. While I was trying to figure out what that would be, I looked out my back window at the two Opel GT's that my husband was trying to rebuild into one functioning car -- and realized that I had fifteen years of VW mechanicking stories in my head. I'm not a mechanic -- but I ran tools for my husband as he kept our cars on the road. And we had the best VW mechanic . . .

What happened to the mercy comics? I like the first edition although I did notice inconsistencies on how the comics say the Mercy series starts and the actual books say how it starts. Any the comics are being continued?
Wednesday May 12, 2010 8:34 Toyasumi
8:36
Patricia Briggs:
Toasumi -- Yes. As we speak we are busily working on Moon Called and Cry Wolf comics. I'll make sure and let everyone know when they are coming out on my website. Some really beautiful work taking place! As for the differences . . . some honest mess ups on my end, a few wouldn't it have been better ifs -- and some things work better in graphic presentations than others.

Can Bran or Ben get their own books or short stories or atleast a happy ending like Sam finding Ariana?
Wednesday May 12, 2010 8:45 jena
8:45
Patricia Briggs:
Jena -- Bran probably won't get his own book -- half of the fun of Bran is what people don't know about him and his own book would spoil that. He might get a short story of his own, though. Ben might get a short story, too. He's not ready for a happy-every-after relationship yet -- he needs to find a way to be a little healthier person before that happens.

Yes Buzzy is doing the Hurog books. I need to go do some follow up on that! They took the contract for that right as I was finishing Silver Borne. I'll see what I can find out and get that posted to my website.

Do you ever write Mercy and A&O at the same time? Or do you finish one then start the other?
Wednesday May 12, 2010 8:53 CarolKat
8:53
Patricia Briggs:
CarolKat -- I cannot work on two books at the same time. I just can't deal with that many voices in my head Seriously though, a lot of writing for me is remembering what I've done earlier in the book. I can't keep more than one book in my head at a time -- and notes are too clumsy and time consuming.

Leilani -- I assume you're asking about the model for Mercy? Daniel dos Santos is awesome -- I am so lucky they picked him for the first Mercy book, and that we've been able to keep him. I don't know who the model is, though I do know it is the same one for all the books.

Patricia Briggs:
Veronica -- I oversee the comics, but I have a terrific writer -- David Lawrence -- whom I trust. And I have three awesome people plucked from my forums who help keep things right and do a much better job than I do. I'm inclined to say, ooo pretty -- and not notice that Adam's eye color is wrong.
