I'm not reading much these days, so my list is pretty small.  My current batch of favorites is:

Nora Roberts
Diana Gabaldon
Patricia Briggs
Nalini Singh

And I guess that's about it.  Told you I wasn't reading much.  And then there are several other authors who have tremendous presence on my keeper shelves, but mostly in the form of older books and not anything they've put out recently:

Linda Howard
Mary Jo Putney
David Eddings
Jane Feather

I'm not sure if I should include Anne Bishop on these lists or not.  I LOVE her Black Jewels books, but I don't read anything else by her.  But her BJT is infinitely re-readable to me.

Why is that? Her Tir Alainn trilogy is quite good, actually, and the Ephemera duology isn't half bad either, though nothing comparable to the astonishing awesomeness of the Black Jewels Trilogy. Can you tell I love that book? :-LOVE ;D

The other books set in the world of the Blood, well, they aren't bad: the stories aren't anything special, but they're mostly enjoyable to take a peek into the lives of characters we've come to care for during the trilogy. :)

I can't tell you, Maz....  I've stood there in th ebookstore and picked up her other books and read the back blurbs, and flipped through the inside, but I just never feel motivated to read the other books.  I tried reading Sebastian.  Mostly, I wound up skimming it.  And I tried reading Belladonna...same thing.  I also agree with you that the other BJ books are okay but can't compare to the BJT.  But like you, I like to catch up with the characters.

I think the Ephemera duology is the weakest of her series, still it intrigued me somehow, the idea of a world that sometimes take you not where you want to go but where it's better for you to be. :)

The Tir Alainn trilogy is a somewhat more - shall we say classic? - fantasy, it took me a while to go around and read it too. In the end I wasn't disappointed. :)

Anyway, has any of the bookpushers already prompted you to read Ilona Andrews's Kate Daniels series? >D You should try it out: the first one starts off slow and doesn't take off until halfway through it, but then those books are made of awesome. :-LOVE

Nifty, I'll second Maz the bookpusher extraordinare :) about the Kate Daniels series. To be honest, I wasn't gaga over the first book, but they definitely get progressively more sophisticated and addicting. The fourth book came out recently and it was just perfection. I'm also really looking forward to Andrews' new series The Edge. Her website is full of cool freebie reads if you want to check them out.

And to keep on topic of favorites, having just finished Hunting Ground, I have to say that Patty is now even higher on my list of favorite authors than previously. Just excellent.
