Jesse and her men, current and future
« on: February 08, 2010, 05:35:14 am »
Jessie seems pretty comfortable around werewolves, so I could see her falling for a wolf. However, I think its also just as likely that she ends up with a human. I suspect Jessie would judge and evaluate someone on their personal qualities and not on weather they turn all hair and grow fangs on the full moon.

Wolves, though, do come with a lot of conditions and special circumstances. The male dominated society would not be comfortable for Jessie (like Mercy). If I remember correctly Jessie is currently going out with Gabriel (right name?)..... (also, side thought. In a fantasy book the name Gabriel is often VERY significant or even LITERAL ;D)

WHOA! I must be sleep posting cause I don't remember creating this thread.

Any way, lets get this thread rolling.

If Jesse probably ever got involved with a Werewolf I think it would be a relatively young one. You know, one who hasn't been a wolf for more than a year and jesse knows WAY more about being a Werewolf than he does. It would make the typical Male dominant style relationship a little more even.

Mac was a good possibility but that option was killed off (literally) before it had a chance to get past the "mild interest" stage.

Currently though, Jesse is involved with Gabriel and is, if the way he is portrayed in the books are any indication, a keeper.  :D

HAHA! Maybe we'll get both. I always thought Gabriel's honor and chivalric nature would make him a good wolf. After Jesse was attacked and Adam was all in a rage, if Gabriel hadn't been the default target of Adam's rage I suspect he would have been rearing to go after those boys almost as much as Adam... or maybe I'm imagining things.

Ben is a oddly intriguing and incredibly messy possibility. Just think of all the conflict that would come from that..... AH drama! That would be a pretty... not dark but ominously dusky turn and I kinda like Ben as the foulmouthed tough guy with a past and a pretty good heart he does his best to keep hidden.

No, we split this post off from the "Jesse AS Werewolf" thread since you insisted on going off on this topic.  See charmed's note at the end of the initial post.

I don't remember "insisting" on any thing, but that doesn't matter, its fixed now.

Anyway. Realistically, unless something happens to Gabriel I don't see a new man coming into Jesse's life any time soon.

But its still fun to speculate.

What if she gets involved with a Fae? That would be awkward and dangerous. "Excuse me... you are HOW old?"  LOL

Some werewolves can be classed as old.

Fae? Ooo, what about Tad as a potential love interest?

seeing as jesse is still a minor I find the thought of her being entangled with somebody OLD, as in werewolf or fae, a bit disturbing. that was actually the one  thing that always irked me with buffy (and I liked the series) and is one of the things I can't stand about twilight.

my opinion: grown men should not display any interest in minors. period. (two or three years of age difference are of no real concern to me.... but what EXACTLY does a 50 year old see in a 16 year old?)

If we are talking jesse's longtime future here.... I'd prefer her ending up with someone her age or only slightly older.... (just my personal opinion here).... maybe a werewolf, though I wouldn't wish the ageing-thing to be a problem for her in the future.

I got a proposal as I graduated high school from a retired man...they want the youth to make them feel younger, but also to mold the younger spouse to their desires, and sometimes to take care of them when they become physically or mentally feeble.  In previous decades/centuries, the younger wife would not only do those things, but she would care for and possibly give birth to yet more children for him.

I don't condone it, but I do comprehend it.

Jesse, I believe, is too smart to go with someone she knows to be a great deal older than she is.  She's happy dating Gabriel for now; that might last or not; there's still her (very likely) college years to be dealt with, and depending on what kind of career she settles on, a were or fae husband might be a good thing.  Alternatively, she might end up willy-nilly falling in love with someone who has nothing at all to do with sensible choices.

I think it's too soon to speculate on Jesse and Gabriel staying together. However since he is staying in Adam's basement right now and Mercy is going to replace her trailer so he has a place possibly with Sam as a roommate that would give them a lot of time close together.  Once Gabriel heads to college things can change.

Well, the wolves are out of the closet, so to speak. So it isn't like there is a whole lot of reason to punish someone for knowing about werewolves.

Anyway. Realistically, unless something happens to Gabriel I don't see a new man coming into Jesse's life any time soon.

Now, on that point I am most definitely in agreement. Jesse is a strong young woman, who knows herself, what she wants out of life and who she wants in her life...THAT much is clear enough from the series. As such, it seems to me that she won't just 'attach' to any young man. He will have to possess the same qualities, and I think Jesse's reaction to Gabriel's abduction in Silver Borne makes it clear enough that she's found the man she wants...and no other will do, thank you very much.

Actually, I was more amused by Adam's trying to keep as much distance between Jesse's bedroom and Gabriel's bedroom when Gabriel's mom threw him out and he moved into Adam's place...typical fatherly reaction. They do say that a daughter is God's punishment of a father, because he always lies awake at night terrified that his little angel's going to meet a young man just like he used to be as a youngster....
I'd rather enjoy life...besides, it costs nothing to smile!!!

I read up to the fourth book so far and I really like Gabe.  :) Though someone mentioned something about Tad and her, that would be cool.Though they are always takling about not messing with vamps but fae seem worse to get involved with.

hehhe A thought just popped into my head. It is not very likely but I think her and Ben would be cute together. I know most people would not agree but it was just a cool thought. And like you said, Jessie is a strong woman. Doesn't Ben need someone strong? It is not like that is what I want want want out of the book, I like Jessie's relationship how it is with Gabe so far, but you know when a strange idea pops into your head and you let it wander?  :P

I also do not like a big age difference with two humans but I will make an exeption for magical creatures with humans.  :D

I'm not so sure, Jesse is described as being able to handle herself in tough situations but also very sanguine and cheerful. Ben needs someone who will cheer him up just when he looks at her but able to deal with his issues! Although since Jesse was dragged into that "life", she may want someone to escape to and not have to deal with wolf drama every day!

There is still an aspect of Ben that is being missed, though he has mellowed to a point, Mercy having shown him a great deal, Ben still hates or has an extreme dislike for Women. Jesse would not tie herself to someone like that.

In  the Mercy world , we've got a mix or relationships:
were and were
were and fae
were and coyote
were and human
human and fae?

I think a relationship between two humans (Jessie and ?) would fit well.

Don't forget Coyote (or Thunderbird, Hawk, Wolf, etc.) and human.  Jesse is ... Jesse is going to eventually find (I hope, some of us don't pair off, after all) someone who is right for her mentally and emotionally.  The physical/magical side of it will be secondary, I suspect.

I like the Jesse & Gabriel pairing as it is. Unless something really significant happens (like Gabriel dying, which I hope doesn't happen) then I don't see why they shouldn't stay together longterm.

If something did happen to split them up though... I don't think we know Tad well enough really to see if Tad + Jesse could work.

Ben + Jesse I can't see happening at all. I just think 'eww' if I imagine that.

Perhaps Ben and Mary-Jo would work? Once they've both moved on further as characters and gotten over old issues? (Didn't Mary-Jo say she liked him at one point, (as long as he kept his mouth shut), when she was ill or something?)

After Gabriels time in Elphame he is more wary around the supernatural people. He is even afraid of Darryl. :o

I think Jesse and Tad would make a better couple.
They know each other since childhood.
They both have an immortal/long living father.
They are familiar with the supernatural world and don’t have to hide secrets from a human mate.
The age gape isn’t to big: In MC Tad is 19 and Jesse 15. Add 4 and in CS Tad is 23 and Jesse 19.

Adam is an overprotective Father and Tad can protect Jesse better than Gabriel.
Tad and Jesse`s relationship would ensure that Jesse studies in the Try-Cities and not out of reach of Adam.

I am pretty sure Zee would approve of that relationship. It doesn’t matter if their children have little magic, because they will have powerful grandparents.

Though Christy would be one other matter. She has to choose if she want to be a monster-grandma or the grandma of a monster.

I like the Idea that, while Mercy and the other adults fighting monsters, Tad protects Jesse in his and Zees home. If this lasts a few days, maybe something happened…..
In FB chapter 9 Jesse tease Adam already, that she might become a teenager mom. LOL
