Question about timing: ie Alpha & Omega vs Mercy series
« on: January 14, 2009, 10:56:58 pm »
When the first chapter for the second alpha and omega book come out?
Is it going to be at the end of Bone Crossed or do we still have a while to wait?

"Hunitng Ground" is the second book, friend.  First was the novella, "Alpha and Omega", then the NOVEL "Cry Wolf", and "Hunting Ground" will arrive somewhere in the latter half of 2009.  It's being researched now.  I don't think Our Hostess is close enough to a full first draft to want any of it posted yet.

What Patti said!   Patty's writer's group just got chapter 4 tonight.  Nothing's going to go public for a while yet, though Patty's writing as quickly as she can!

I am a bit confused, the blurb on the books page says that Hunting Ground takes place before the Mercy series; however, Charles met Anna because of what happened in Moon Called

Hi JimC, it is a bit confusing.

Check the novel timeline here.

It's a visual representation of the books and where they fall in respect to each other. Anna and Charles meet during the events of Moon Called and the other books in the A&O series: Cry Wolf and Hunting Ground take place prior to the events of the rest of the Mercy Thompson books Blood Bound, Iron Kissed and Bone Crossed.

I hope that helps. I know seeing the image of it helps me keep it straight. :)

I know that the timing between the two series is a bit off, but with they ever catch up and run concurrently?   Even if the characters doesn't really interact much (or at all) but possibly have to deal with some issue that affects both?  Like the novella in On The Prowl?  Just idle curiosity really.  Although after rereading Iron Kissed last night, it might be interesting for Mercy & Adam to meet Anna.  Like I said, just idle curiosity.   ;)

Here is a link to the timelines. As for the two series blending, I believe Patty had said in a chat somewhere that a mix like that would be very difficult to do properly. I'm not sure where she said it though.

Noticed someone looking at this, so I thought I'd update it.
The advent of "Fair Game" will bring the Alpha & Omega timeline current with the Mercy series, and it sounds as though the 7th, as yet untitled Mercy book may overlap it, with them in the same place.
