hurog board issues; questions on use or functions
« on: July 23, 2008, 03:01:47 pm »
dunno if it's just me, but when I click on "next" to get to the next page in a particular thread I leap to a completely different thread. Anyone else having this issue???

Edited to change thread title by me, 7/24/2008.

BINGO!! exactly right. munkee, to go to the next page, just click on the next page number ie if you are on page 1, then click on page 2, at either the top or bottom of the page.

It's  a fairly standard practice on message boards actually. I rememebr that when I first started hanging around on message boards that it took me a bit to figure out that 'next' function, as well as a few others. But, I played around with various functions and read the board help areas until I knew what I was doing.

I've asked Patti L as mod to change the title to "board issues" since the problem/question that you had was actually board related, not website related. I like the idea of having a thread for people to psot about problems that they are having with board software. :)

Still catches me some times, especially as every board I tend to post on comes with it's own unique layout (and quite frankly it's not a very useful funktion).

Is anyone else having a problem staying registered on the site? I have to resign up every time I enter the site even though I chose "forever" when I sign in. Is this a function of the site or a problem with my computer. I don't seem to be having this problem on other sites.  ???

BigMama, I'm confused. Do you mean that you keep having to register for a new account or that you are having trouble staying logged in forever?

If you mena the latter, do you regularly clear out your browser cookies? That will wipeout saved passwords and sign ins.

If hte former, Mike or Elle will need to help you.

I suspect she's saved her 'entry point' before the log in screen.  You might want to bookmark for after you've logged in, that should do it.

"Ask Patty" clarification.

Each series of books or single book, or the anthologies Patty's work has appeared in has a dedicated "Ask Patty" area.

If someone has asked a question regarding one of her characters, settings, or details, that is found in a different area from the one to which it needs to be linked, the thread will be moved to that piece's "Ask Patty" section, and a post showing that the question was moved will be left in place of it.

To find the question again, simply put your cursor onto the words "Ask Patty" in that post and double click.  This will open a link to the new location.

If the question has been answered, there may be a second link post saying "This has been moved to "AP: Answered", and the same process applies.

Hopefully this is right place to ask - since it is board function issue.

Why, when I post a reply, do I get kicked back to main forum list?  This is first board that I have had that happen to me on, so, am trying to figure out, if it is possibly a setting that I didn't do correctly in my profile.

Thanks for any help or clarification.

Ok, now another noob question from moi. How small does a pic have to be to be accepted as an avvy? I have shrunk my desired pic to 90x90 & the board still says it's too big. Help?

They're 65X65 Dixie but it should resize on it's own. Could you post it here maybe or send it to me via PM?

Uh, help? I clicked on my usual link to the Hurog home site, and got...something I wasn't expecting. Somehow I got re-directed to an "enhancements" site. I tried several times to get to the home page, but no joy; earlier today, I had no problems. Something very odd is going on somewhere.

In addition to the above, I just got a couple of error messages from SMF while I was trying to navigate around the boards; looks like there may be a few bugs in the system.

I could solve it, it was a browser ( no script) problem it seems.
I still can´t log in via Firefox allthough i have allowed Hurog to no script,
but it works with IE.

I have a problem with the new version.  I had an avatar in the old version.  Actually, I've had about two or three, and they weren't much, but I liked them.

The problem is, that now I can't upload any of them.  I keep getting a message saying that the picture is either too large or not an avatar.  Of course, it doesn't seem to want to tell me what constitutes 'too large' or 'an avatar' - presumably I should just be able to intuit this.  I have tried uploading smaller and smaller pictures, to no avail.  I don't have much of an internet presence, so this place and facebook are the only places I've ever put in avatars, and up until now, both places took the same picture.   :-\

Does anyone have any useful information they could give me?  Help?  I realize this is probably my forum/chat world inexperience showing, but I'm quite lost here.  :(

I had the same issue myself.

I was also tossed out of the Spring Contest when I tried to read them. I figure it will all work itself out.

I used photobucket too, and I believe the size limit with 50x50 pixels.

Avatar size is 65x65.  It needs to be in a jpeg or gif type file now.

It is a jpeg.  But my question is also: why can't I use avatars that were fine in the earlier version?

Try changing the .jpeg to .jpg and see if it works.
Mike was having a conversation with somebody at the howl and explaining that the .jpeg wouldn't work.
I think.

Try it, if it doesn't work we can wait and find out what Mike actually said.
