Chat Transcript: May 2 '08
Oh. My. Goodness. Wipeout! Patty forgot the chat (again), I was late getting home, so I couldn't remind her about it. By the time we got it figured out she was an hour late. Panic. Then we logged on, and the chat was broken. More Panic. Some folks had been hanging around on a broken chat server for an hour waiting for the Patty to make her grand entrance. So, I fired up a terminal window, went into sysop mode, and wiped out the entired backing store, figuring it was some glitch there that was the problem. Then I sent a sighup to the server process, and things started working. No logs, of course, and I killed any evidence of the problem when I dropped the backing store. Sigh. I'm guessing it doesn't like some odd European character -- but I can't get it crash again.
Sorry Folks! We've goofed up yet again with the chats. They're fun when they work <grin>. The good news is that, an hour and twenty minutes late, we finally got Patty chatting, and she had a great chat with the few hardy souls who stuck around for the whole thing.
